Some of my first memories and strongest memories of my childhood relate to cars. I still remember back when things happened based on what car I was drinving at the time. I grew up and lived in Iowa for nearly 40 years before moving to Southern California. I was a Corvette fanatic for years but then discovered vintage American Muscle. My wife, Katrina, and I decided we wanted to focus on a unique and rare muscle car. After a lot of research we fell in love with the Ford Blue Oval Aero Cars. These were only built in 1969 and their only purpose was to win NASCAR races using their Boss 429 and 427 power plants complimented with a special, wind cheating, aerodynamic body. The Ford Talladega and Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II are terrific and historic cars for sure. This site is devoted to them and their owners past and present.

Fred Lorenzen and Dan Gurney at the First Riverside Motor Trend 500

Fred Lorenzen and Dan Gurney at the First Riverside Motor Trend 500

My favorite race track remains the Riverside Road Course in Riverside CA. It no longer exists thanks to some stupid politicians and greedy developers. That may be a little harsh in that everyone is entitled to do what they want with their own property but the loss of Riverside Raceway was tragic. I have attended [...]

1970 King Cobra

1970 King Cobra For Sale

Only three King Cobra Prototypes were built by Ford. Only one had a 4-speed and only one had the convex rear window. This car is going to auction on May 19, 213 at the Mecum Indy Auction. I can only imagine what this car might sell for but I am also afraid that like the [...]

Car Stories

We get the most comments on stories about you. It seems readers really like to hear what the rest of you have to say and what stories you have to tell. Do you have a special story about your Talladega or Spoiler II? How you found it or maybe its about the one you didn’t get? Perhaps you [...]

Underside of Gurney and driveshaft loop.

What are you working on? Lou Whitfield

A lot of you already know Lou and his wife Erin. They have been into the Ford aero cars for a very long time. Lou and Erin have built some great cars over the years and have never been hung up on driving the cars or building them to drive. Their most [...]

Who is Dan Gurney?

Who is Dan Gurney?

It seems everyone knows who Cale Yarborough is. When you talk about a Cale Spoiler/Spoiler II thoughts immediately go to the Wood Brothers and NASCAR racing with number 21. Mention Dan Gurney and eyes often glaze over. The Gurney Spoiler and Spoiler II cars are much rarer than the Cale cars. Arguably, in addition to having [...]

To help our readers we are providing you with one example of a Marti [...]

Buyer Beware

Buyer Beware

We recently provided everyone with an update on the sale of a number of cars at auctions and other outlets over the past few weeks. One of those cars is already back on the market. The Cale Yarborough Spoiler which sold at Mecum Palm Beach for $26,000 plus commission is now for sale on eBay. [...]

What are you working on? John Craft

What are you working on? John Craft

Some of you may not be familiar with John Craft but many of you will recognize the name from the early efforts years ago to create the first Talladega Registry and history. Dr. Craft no longer owns a street version of the Talladega but he does have a couple of related projects in his garage [...]

Values of Ford Talladegas and Sold Cars

Values of Ford Talladegas and Sold Cars

This is the fully restored, Condition 2 Talladega that was on eBay and bid to $28,763 and did not meet reserve. In my opinion this is likely a better car and certainly more authentic than the one that sold at the BJ Auction for $55,000. In the November/December Issue of the Keith Martin AmericanCarCollector.com [...]

1969 Mercury Cyclone

1969 Mercury Cyclone

Let me start off by saying I know this is not a Spoiler or GT 500 but it is a beautiful car. As rare as our cars are I never fail to be surprised when I find such terrific examples outside the US. You think you have problems trying to locate restoration parts for your [...]
