MCACN Team Member Cars 2019

As previously reported, the number of Talladega and Spoiler/Spoiler II cars at MCACN  was disappointing in the quantity of Team Member cars. However, overall the quality of the cars was impressive and the people were terrific. Only one registered car/Member was a no show. A couple of cars were also pulled for special spots in the show. Our area was the Ford Aero Cars and was organized by Team Member Marty Burke.

Below are all the cars and owners who showed in our group. Not all cars were judged. There were different classes for different cars depending on the class selected by the owner and eligibility for that class.

Katrina was one of two women at the show to win the special pick as women who know cars. The woman had to be on the title of the car being shown and had to survive an interview where she had to tell all about the car and why it was special. She aced it!

We have been working on our Talladega over the past few months to make it more showable and correct. The engine smog equipment was added, engine painted and correct Firestone Wide Oval Whitewall tires were added. The car earned a Gold in the Concours Class.
Mike Callahan displayed his Boneville Spoiler II. It was not judged but had previously received a Gold in a modified class.

Some of my first and strongest memories from my childhood relate to cars. I still remember when things happened based on what car I was driving at the time. I grew up and lived in Iowa for nearly 40 years before moving to Southern California and now live in Tennessee. I was a Corvette fanatic for years but then re-discovered vintage American Muscle. My wife, Katrina, and I decided we wanted to focus on unique and rare muscle cars. After a lot of research we fell in love with the Ford Blue Oval Aero Cars. These were only built in 1969 and and aerodynamics became an important part of winning races. The only purpose of these limited production cars was to win NASCAR races using the Boss 429 and 427 power plants complimented with a special, wind cheating, aerodynamic body. The Ford Talladega and Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II are terrific and historic cars. This site is devoted to these car and their owners past and present. We provide an Online Registry for recording the long term history and ownership of every remaining Talladega, Spoiler and Spoiler II.
