Pilot Cars
The Pilot cars followed the Prototypes in the build sequence. They were basically test vehicles for the assembly line. Ford wanted to see what if any changes to the car or assembly line might be necessary due to their extended length.
There were only 5 Pilot cars built that we know of. Unfortunately, only 1 is known to still exist but that one is in good hands and is being restored. Please note that the VIN on all of these cars is in sequence.

There is no current information regarding Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II Pilot Cars.
I may be in possession of a 69 pilot spoiler. ITS A C.Y. SPECIAL
BODY IS 63C. COLOR IS 3. TRIM IS 8W. DATE IS 04G. DSO IS 84. ORIGINAL ORDER IS INTRODUCTORY SHOW UNIT. ORIGINAL DEALER IS FORD MARKETING. EVERYTHING ON THE MARTI REPORT FITS ,EXCEPT COLOR CODE. IF ANYONE CAN SHED SOME LIGHT ON THIS, PLEASE LET US KNOW. THE CAR IS IN LIKE NEW SHOW ROOM CONDITION. THE OWNER IS CALE YARBOROUGH. HE WAS TOLD IT WAS ONE OF TWENTY FIVE.
